Together with a number of partners in the music industry, the Holland Festival has started the initiative to promote a number of instruments using the campaign name: Save the…. bassoon, French horn, and in the future possibly other instruments.

Save the French horn was launched during the Holland Festival of 2016, to rescue the French horn from extinsion and to stimulate childeren to play  a classical instrument. Increasingly less childeren choose to play a certain instrument and conservatories have decreasing numbers of students for these instruments. Even professional orchestras notice that they need to bring in musicians from abroad.

Save the French horn is the second campaign in this format. The first instrument which needed to be saved was the bassoon and had a succesful campaign Save the bassoon in 2016.
